The Prince of Wales has become the patron of several organisations related to his roles as Prince of Wales and Duke of Cornwall.
A Kensington Palace statement confirms that William is now patron of the Welsh Guards Charity, the Royal Cornwall Agricultural Association and president of the Victoria Cross and George Cross Association.
The Welsh Guards Charity supports all Welsh Guardsman—retired and active—and their families through avenues including monetary support, grants for adventure training and sports, and preserving the heritage of the Guards.
William has been Colonel of the Welsh Guards since 2022, succeeding his father, who served as Colonel of the Welsh Guards between 1975 and his accession in 2022.
The Royal Cornwall Agricultural Association promotes the agricultural industry in Cornwall and mounts the annual Royal Cornwall Show. Prior to William, King Charles served as patron of the Royal Cornwall Agricultural Association between 2003 and his accession in 2022.
The Victoria Cross and George Cross Association is the representative arm of all living holders of the Victoria Cross—awarded for valour to members of the armed forces—and the George Cross—awarded for great heroism or conspicuous courage.
Queen Elizabeth II was patron of the Victoria Cross and George Cross Association from 1957 until her death in 2022. King Charles was President of the Association between 2003 and his accession in 2022.
The palace also announced that previously held presidencies—the Football Association and Fields in Trust—will now become patronage appointments.
Kensington Palace noted that William “is committed to using his platform to improve the lives of others” through support of organisations and charities that focus on “conservation and the environment, homelessness, military, sport and the emergency services community.”
