After a year of uncertainty it’s been fantastic to see Prince William return back to front line royal duty.
With his wife, the Princess of Wales, recovering well from her latest round of cancer treatment, that has allowed the future king to get back to doing what he does best, visiting a plethora of businesses, charities and organisations.
Ensuring that he stays close to home, most of his visits have been in and around London and here is a quick recap of what he has been up to.
Prince William on hand to see the launch of new London Air Ambulance Helicopters
Like most in the Royal Family, Prince William is a respected military man, but after the conclusion of his military duties where for three years he operated as a Search and Rescue Helicopter Pilot for the RAF, the future King continued his flying when he became affiliated with the Air Ambulance service.
With Air Ambulance services needing constant funding, William was on hand at RAF Northolt to oversee the launch of the two latest helicopters set to join the London Air Ambulance fleet.
The helicopters had been able to be purchased thanks to a £16 million fundraising effort which was endorsed by celebrities such as David Beckham. Setting foot inside the cockpit, the Prince familiarised himself with the controls and was clearly impressed with the service’s brand new arrivals.
Now fully in operation, the helicopters will serve the Greater London area and should help save people in the most critical of conditions.
Speaking after the event, William posted on X – “This is going to have a life-saving impact. A huge thank you to everyone who donated.”
Prince William continues London Tour with visit to BAFTA HQ
In his position as the Prince of Wales, Prince William is the President of several charities and organisations and one of those is with BAFTA, otherwise known as the British Academy of Film, Television and the Arts, William was on hand at BAFTA’s HQ in Piccadilly to deliver a speech to those wanting to break into the entertainment industry.
Meeting young people who had been given funds courtesy of the Prince William BAFTA Bursary Fund, the Prince delivered a speech to celebrate young people in the industry. Clearly grateful to be able to speak to the attendees, William stated that ‘As President of BAFTA, I am very proud to be involved with an organisation that is dedicated to breaking down barriers for the storytellers of the future.’
Prince William adds to royal stardust to NFL Foundation UK Event
The NFL is one of the fastest growing sports in the UK and with London hosting three games annually, Prince William was on hand at a NFL Foundation event held in London.
The NFL Foundation UK is the first charitable trust that the NFL has set up outside of America and the aim is for the fund to support children and young people who may find their access to sport limited due to a lack of finance or opportunity.
One sport that the Foundation is trying to grow is Flag Football. Set to be included at the 2028 Olympic Games, the Prince met with representatives of the Foundation and even donned his trainers to give the game a go.
