Pour one out for the Prince of Wales!

Ever the football fan, Prince William found time to chat with Aston Villa supporters in Birmingham on Wednesday, after he was in town for the College of Paramedics’ Emergency and Critical Care Conference.

The royal met with several fans at the local Wetherspoons to talk about the club ahead of their match with Everton that evening. He bought the table beer while he drank cider and chatted about football.

Speaking to reporters afterwards, Steve Jones, said that William “was fantastic. I was quite amazed at how engaged he was with the club, his interest. He’s not a fairweather fan. He really loves the club with a passion.”

Jones revealed that Villa reached out to several fans, letting them know that Prince William wanted to meet up at the pub while he was in Birmingham for the College of Paramedics’ Emergency and Critical Care Conference on Wednesday.

“We spoke about the club, the transfers, the pending Champions League trip to Monaco, and all things Aston Villa,” Jones said.

Jones also revealed that Prince George is a Villa fan like his father, and that William shared how he hopes Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis support other teams so it’s not a household full of Villa fans. “He was massively interested and seemed a really genuine guy and all he wanted to do is talk about Villa.”

Prince William has been an Aston Villa supporter since he was a teenager, revealing in a BBC interview in 2015 that “All my friends at school were either Man United fans or Chelsea fans and I didn’t want to follow the run of the mill teams.

“I wanted to have a team that was more mid-table that could give me more emotional rollercoaster moments.”
