Prince William does flatcap chic

Although the Princess of Wales has long been celebrated for setting fashion trends (known as the “Kate effect”), The Prince of Wales has also had several stylish moments in the last year. For his latest appearance, he chose a stylish accessory for a major announcement in Dartmoor.

Prince William was on Dartmoor to highlight an ambitious restoration project. The Duchy of Cornwall will be working with Central Dartmoor Landscape Recovery Project to help promote biodiversity, river restoration, and conservation.

The Prince has chosen to focus on environmental causes over the last decade. In 2021, he launched the Earthshot Prize, a scheme that highlights five winners each year for their innovative work in environmentalism.

Prince William looked to his rural roots for fashion inspiration. Dressed casually in a pair of jeans, a button up shirt, and a brown jacket, the Prince donned a traditional flatcap and a pair of wellington boots for the visit.

This is not William’s first big fashion moment, though.

At the 2024 Earthshot Prize ceremony in Cape Town, South Africa, he wore a double-breasted suit jacket (in a perfect Prince of Wales check). The blazer is a vintage piece that the Prince bought from a London vintage boutique. He completed his look with a pair of Purified sneakers, a brand born from an Earthshot Prize finalist.
