The Prince of Wales has sent a good luck message to the Lionesses with a little help from a young royal football fan.
Princess Charlotte, who has shown her support for the England team in the past, joined her dad for a video just hours before the match in Sydney which could see Sarina Wiegman’s women crowned world champions.
After days of debate about whether Prince William, who is President of the Football Association, should be at Stadium Australia for the match, the heir to the throne told the Lionesses ”I’m sorry we can’t be there in person” but focused his message very much on the first World Cup final for England in almost sixty years.
Sitting with his daughter, the Prince said ”Lionesses, we want to send you huge good luck…we’re so proud of everything you’ve achieved.”
And he countered claims he might be on holiday by revealing he was still in the UK when he noted that ”you’ve inspired here and around the world.”
Prince William told the team to ”Go out there tomorrow and really enjoy yourselves.”
However, he left the main message to Princess Charlotte who ended the video saying ”Good luck, Lionesses.”
England play Spain in the World Cup final on August 20th 2023.
