Prince Harry’s US visa row has allegedly come to an end after a judge appears to have made a decision on the case, according to reports.
The Sun on Sunday claimed that a new sealed document – which has not been made public yet – was submitted to a US court by judge Carl Nichols.
The document relates to a case brought in last year by a Washington DC-based think tank regarding the Duke of Sussex’s visa application, following his explosive claims about drug use in his memoir, Spare.
Now the outlet claims that the judge has filed his ruling at a court in Washington DC after four months of studying Harry’s immigration documents. The document can only be seen by “authorised persons”.
The Duke of Sussex has been living in the US since 2020 after he quit his royal duties with wife Meghan Markle.
But he found himself in hot water after he released his memoir Spare in January 2023 and revealed he had previously used recreational drugs like cocaine, marijuana and magic mushrooms.
Questions were asked about whether the duke had declared that on his visa application when he relocated to the US.
Under US law, drug use can be grounds to reject a visa application.
Earlier this year, the Heritage Foundation think tank wanted details of Harry’s immigration records to be made public and submitted freedom of information requests to the US Department of Homeland Security to release them.
A royal expert has previously said that Harry must “regret” talking about his past drug use in his memoir.
Former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond told OK! earlier this summer: “Harry must regret having been so frank about drugs in his book. It really wasn’t a necessary part of the narrative although I understand that he was trying to explain his mental health issues.
“But admissions like that can have consequences and, right now, he must be feeling the heat.
“In the end, though, I can’t imagine that the USA would actually throw him out. Lawyers would find some way around it, I think. But it must be an unnecessary worry and embarrassment for Harry at the moment.”
