Harry’s motorcade was pictured arriving at Clarence House, where the King and Queen Camilla were, at 2.42pm.

Father and son are believed to have had a brief chat that lasted less than an hour before Harry departed. No details of the exchange have been released.

The Duke reportedly did not spend the night in any royal residences and instead stayed in a London hotel. He currently has no base in the UK, having been evicted from Frogmore Cottage last year following the release of his explosive memoir, Spare.

After his whirlwind trip to the UK, Harry is now set to head to Canada with Meghan next week for an event to commemorate a year until the Invictus Games in Vancouver and Whistler.

It comes as King Charles’s devastating cancer diagnosis shocked royal watchers worldwide after Buckingham Palace’s announcement on Monday.

The palace did not specify which type of cancer the monarch has and only said he has been diagnosed with a “form of cancer”. However, aides have confirmed it is not linked to his prostate operation last month and that it is not prostate cancer.
