Prince Harry stayed at Princess Diana‘s childhood home during his last visit to the UK, a report claims.

Harry was in Britain last week when he joined his brother Prince William at a service at St Mary’s Church, Snettisham, Norfolk, for the funeral of Diana’s brother-in-law, Lord Robert Fellowes.

The Duke of Sussex stayed with his uncle, Charles, Earl Spencer, at the Spencer family’s ancestral seat, Althorp House, Northampton, according to People magazine.

It reports a member of the congregation at the funeral service as saying most people “were astounded” by Harry’s presence.

They told the publication: “He was on remarkably good form and you could tell he was very pleased to see everybody. And he was very pleased he had come over.”

Lord Robert’s funeral service was held two days before the 27th anniversary of Diana’s death, who lost her life at the age of 36 on August 31, 1997, in a car crash in Paris.

He was married to Diana’s sister, Lady Jane Fellowes, and was Queen Elizabeth II’s former private secretary. He died in August aged 82.

Diana is buried on an island in the middle of Round Oval Lake at the Grade I-listed stately home where she lived as a child.

Earl Spencer marked his sister’s passing in public by posting a poignant tribute to Diana on Instagram on Saturday.

Diana’s brother shared an image of clippings from newspaper stories about her, including one detailing news of her christening alongside pictures of William and Harry’s mum as a baby.

Harry’s appearance at Lord Robert’s funeral service and reported stay at Althorp highlights his bond with Diana’s family.

Lady Jane, Earl Spencer and some of Harry’s Spencer cousins joined the Duke at the 10th anniversary service for the Invictus Games at St Paul’s Cathedral in May.

News of Harry’s reported stay at Althorp comes amid claims the Duke is seeking a way back to some sort of royal role, which have been refuted by some sources.

It is understood Harry turned down an offer to stay at Buckingham Palace during his May visit to London. The Times reported the Duke was invited to use apartments at the palace, but opted to stay at a hotel instead.

Harry is believed to have stayed at a hotel in the capital during his flying visit to Britain in the wake of King Charles’s cancer diagnosis.
