Prince Harry gushed about his wife, Meghan Markle, as he revealed his “genuine concern” for her in a new interview following the Invictus Games earlier this month.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex spent four days together at the beginning of the month as they travelled to Canada to attend the seventh edition of the Games before Meghan flew back home to California to look after their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

Harry, who launched the Invictus Games back in 2014, spoke to Us Weekly and said that there are so many memories between him and the duchess since they first attended the event together when they were still dating in 2016.

He told the outlet that Meghan has been “part of this community since shortly after the Orlando Games in 2016 and has loved every minute of it.”

The prince also revealed that, in 2018, when the games took place in Sydney, Australia, he got a scare after meeting with a fan who gave him a “bear hug”.

He told the outlet: “My genuine concern that he might try the same with my wife, who was pregnant at the time!”

The Duchess of Sussex gave birth to Prince Archie on May 9, 2019, and to Princess Lilibet on June 4, 2021.

Meghan, following her trip back to California after Canada, gushed about her husband in a heartwarming post on social media on Valentine’s Day.

She posted a new black and white photo with her husband, which was accompanied by a sweet message.

Meghan wrote: “Back home taking care of our babies, and missing my Valentine, as he continues on at the Invictus Games, changing lives and reminding all of us of the power of healing and resilience through these incredible veterans and their families. Beyond proud of my husband and what he’s created. My love, I will eat burgers & fries and fish & chips with you forever. Thank you for you. #lovewins”

Harry said of his wife’s tribute: “Yes, the Instagram shout-out was very sweet and much appreciated!”

The prince also spoke about the 2027 Games, which are set to take place in his home country, in Birmingham.

He said: “Birmingham for us, is a very, very emotionally connected place.

“A lot of these guys, they woke up in Birmingham after being blown up in Afghanistan.”

He also said he is open to what comes next, adding: “I’ve learned, evolved, and been shaped by the resilience and brilliance of our Invictus community.

“Serving them and their families remains one of the greatest privileges of my life.”
