Prince Harry ‘misses his family more than ever’ as the ‘novelty’ of LA life with Meghan ‘wears off’, claims author

PRINCE Harry is said to be missing his family “more than ever” but will not come back to the UK this summer, according to a royal expert.

The Duke of Sussex currently lives in LA with wife Meghan Markle, and their kids, Archie, four, and two-year-old Lilibet, after stepping down as a senior royal.

Katie Nicholl, author of The New Royals, told Closer that the “novelty” of Californian life may have “worn off” for Prince Harry, 38.

She claimed: “I think Harry must miss his family more than ever and [he’s] not coming back to the UK for the summer

“He’s always loved the UK in the summer and he’d always wanted his children to have a special relationship with their cousins, the same way he grew up with his royal cousins [Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice].

“They had summers in Norfolk and Scotland, but he has a very different life now.

“You have to wonder whether the novelty of that has worn off.”

Typically the royal family all spend time in Scotland during the summer, at what was the Queen’s favourite residence, Balmoral.

This year will be a poignant reunion at Balmoral for the royals who do attend, as the Queen passed away there last year on September 8.

It is expected that Kate and William will take their three kids, Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, eight, and five-year-old Prince Louis to the Scottish retreat in the weeks ahead.

However, Prince Harry and Meghan have not been to Balmoral since 2018.

This comes as claims this week surfaced that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are giving each other space.

However, these rumours have been swiftly denied by an insider.

The couple put on a united front as they gushed over Archie and Lilibet in their latest public appearance, speaking in a video to support the Responsible Technology Youth Power Fund, which aims to work with young people.

After their sensational departure from royal duties, the couple now live in a Montecito mansion, and have only visited the UK a handful of times since.

Meghan has barely returned since “Megxit” but Harry recently flew back for his father’s Coronation.

Harry is understood to miss aspects of British life, with a source telling The Sun: “Harry was desperate to come back for the Coronation and spend quality time with his family.”

This was despite the Sussexes losing their UK home, Frogmore Cottage.

Harry eventually ended up departing the coronation ceremony to head directly to the airport, and allegedly did not speak to many members of his family.

The Coronation visit in May came in the wake of his memoir Spare, in which he attacked Queen Camilla.

In the bombshell memoir, Harry claimed he and brother William begged Charles, 74, not to marry Camilla.

This ‘revelation’ was seen as a “red line that Harry should never have crossed”.

King Charles could not find time to meet Harry in March when he jetted back for a High Court case.

Speaking to ITV’s Tom Bradby in January to plug Spare, Harry said: “I want a family, not an institution.”

He also claimed he wanted his father and brother “back”.

It is understood Harry’s security has been a major sticking point for his lack of visits.

He is suing the Home Office – claiming the removal of his taxpayer-funded armed guards is “unfair” and “illegal”.
