Amid speculation about whether Netflix will renew Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s streaming deal next year, a Netflix executive has lifted the lid on upcoming new projects for the couple.

The streaming giant’s chief content officer, Bela Bajaria revealed the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have several works in development, claiming “they have a couple of unscripted things they’re working on.”

The CCO was at a Netflix promotional event when she also added Harry and Meghan were working on a film and series that are in “very early development” under the Archewell Production arm, as reported in the Times.

It comes after the pair faced uncertainty over whether Netflix would renew their streaming deal, which was signed in 2020 for five years for a massive £80million.

The developments come as the duo are “desperate” to be seen, as claimed by royal commentator, Angela Levin, who spoke about their most recent appearance at a glitzy film premiere in Jamaica on January 23.

In addition, comedian Jo Koy recently roasted the pair at the Golden Globes saying they were “being paid millions by Netflix for doing nothing”.

Harry and Meghan launched their six-part documentary on Netflix titled ‘Harry & Meghan’, offering an insight into their relationship.

Released in two parts, it hit headlines as viewers speculated on the couple’s relationship with the wider Royal Family.

Months later, Harry’s series ‘Heart of Invictus’ focusing on the games he founded for wounded ex-service personnel, did not gain as much attention in comparison – but was praised by viewers for shining a light on ex-military bravery hardships. |

The documentary followed athletes as they prepared for the Invictus Games in The Hague, the Netherlands.

Last year, in June 2023, Prince Harry and Meghan made a “mutual decision” to part ways with Spotify after producing one 12-episode series, Archetypes.

The series saw the Duchess interview a series of celebrity guests including Paris Hilton, Mariah Carey, and Serena Williams about the stereotypes that women face in their everyday life.

However, it was later pulled, with a statement released at the time saying: “Spotify and Archewell Audio have mutually agreed to part ways and are proud of the series we made together.”

Despite this, the Spotify deal is still listed on the couple’s Archewell Foundation website under the ‘Archewell Audio’ section.
