Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were once given a stern warning by royal and Hollywood insiders who claimed Americans are getting “weary” of them.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex saw their popularity plummet in the US and the UK ever since they left the Royal Family in 2020.

Harry and Meghan’s move to America brought high hopes of the couple establishing their brand across the pond; however, some of their high-profile deals have crumbled to dust, namely their Spotify deal, whereas their Netflix contract is due to end in 2025, with speculation swirling over whether the streaming giant will renew it.

This year the couple branched out in different business ventures, like Meghan’s lifestyle brand, American Riviera Orchard, yet to be released, and their two new Netflix shows, Polo, released earlier this month and another cooking show spearheaded by the duchess, which is also yet to be released.

Meanwhile, the couple have shifted strategy and have now appeared to be making more solo appearances to promote their own individual interests, rather than as a duo.

It comes after insiders claimed they risked being “frozen out of Hollywood” due to their negativity back in 2023.

Former BBC Royal Correspondent Michael Cole told Mike Parker at the time: “Americans have grown weary of them for bringing nothing but negativity to everything they touch.

“Over the past year [2023], they have achieved little more than alienating themselves from the US public and the powerful media companies that employ them – as well as driving an even bigger wedge between themselves and the Royal Family.

“They could find themselves completely frozen out in Hollywood.”

Meanwhile, PR expert Mark Borkowski said: “Showbusiness is attracted to success and financial gains. Turkeys are only acceptable for Thanksgiving. There’s speculation that the industry might be growing weary of their presence.”

He added: “Something is beginning to unwind at the heart of Meghan and Harry.

“The ongoing scrutiny surrounding the Sussexes isn’t beneficial – it’s a black hole. In Tinseltown, negativity isn’t embraced.”

The Sussexes embarked on two faux-royal tours this year – in Nigeria and Colombia.

But their brand was once again clouded in controversy after fresh allegations regarding Meghan’s behaviour emerged, some of which were dismissed by Sussex sources, as well as former and current employees.

The duchess has not made any official comment on these claims.

Filmmaker Paula Froelich said the couple have already been given the cold shoulder by A-List stars and high-rollers, adding: “What people are nervous about, financially, is they don’t want to take a hit because they’re seen as friends of Harry and Meghan.”
