Prince Harry penned a “deeply personal” letter to his father before returning to the UK for Prince Philip’s funeral, as relations “hit rock bottom” after quitting his duties, a royal expert has said.

Amidst preparations to reunite with the family he left behind in 2020, the Duke of Sussex was reportedly compelled to resort to writing the letter to his father due to a “complete communication breakdown”.

The then Prince of Wales was left “very hurt” by his son’s explosive remarks during the now infamous Oprah Winfrey interview, particularly while the Duke of Edinburgh lay gravely ill.

Insiders close to the Sussexes, who now reside in California with their children Archie and Lilibet, indicated that letters have become Harry’s only option to bridge the gap with his estranged father.
