Prince Andrew has been accused of “stubbornness” and “arrogance” which have landed him several times “in hot water” as his bitter feud with King Charles over his living arrangements continues.

The Duke of York is said to be embroiled in a dispute with his brother over his living situation after refusing to leave Royal Lodge, where he’s been living after having been granted a 75-year lease agreement in 2003 by the Crown Estate.

Andrew’s reported struggle with the upkeep of the 30-bedroom property in Windsor, thought to be worth £30million, has caused quite a headache for the monarch, who wants him to move to a much smaller home.

The King is said to have axed Andrew’s private security and £1million allowance, however, the duke managed to secure funds for the upkeep of the mansion.

According to The Times, it is understood that Andrew’s money has been approved by Sir Michael Stevens, the keeper of the privy purse, as coming from “legitimate sources”.

Now royal commentator Rupert Bell claimed that the duke is only making things worse for himself with his attitude.

He told Times Radio: “One of the problems that Prince Andrew has is that he is occasionally convinced of his rightness.

He gets himself into hot water with his stubbornness and sometimes his own arrogance has caused him to create these problems.

“He feels like he lost everything and if he loses his house, well then he probably feels that even more has been taken away from him.”

Mr Bell added: “It’s an interesting dynamic between these two but King is trying in a way to force his hand but if Andrew says I can afford to live here, then there’s not much the King can do.”

Andrew has been relying on Charles’s financial help since stepping down from his royal duties in 2019 over his link with convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein.

Buckingham Palace had declined to comment on the latest developments.
