But royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams blasted the claims and said Andrew’s attendance was “unsurprising”.

The Duke currently lives in Royal Lodge on the Windsor Estate, after being given a “stay of execution” by his brother King Charles.

The two brothers were in dispute over the summer as the monarch planned to have Andrew move out from the property and move into the much smaller Frogmore Cottage.

But Andrew rejected the offer and refused to leave Royal Lodge, which he still shares with his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson, despite divorcing 27 years ago.

Fitzwilliams told Express.co.uk: “Andrew lives on the Windsor Estate, therefore, it is no surprise that he was, together with the King and Queen, present at the inauguration of the new Dean of Windsor, at St George’s Chapel.”

The royal expert stressed that even though the Duke of York will always be a member of the Royal Family, it’s highly unlikely he will ever regain any form of a public role as the British public “will not support it.”

He stated: “Andrew is and always has been a member of the royal family.

“It is highly unlikely however, that this will lead to any change to his activities or some form of a public role.

“In the court of public opinion, there is no support for him at all and no return would be considered acceptable.”

The Duke of York stepped down as a working member of the Royal Family in 2019 due to his association with convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein and allegations – which he has vehemently and repeatedly denied.
