police have been asked to look at allegations of potential breach of Princess of Wales’s medical records – Royal Central

Health Minister Maria Caulfield has said the police have been asked to look into a potential breach of the private medical information of the Princess of Wales.

Speaking to LBC Radio, Ms Caulfield confirmed that officers have been asked to further look into the claims.

The Daily Mirror reported that an inquiry was under way after ‘’at least one’’ member of staff at the London Clinic may have attempted to access the private records of the Princess during her treatment there in January.

It’s been confirmed that the Information Commissioner is looking into a possible breach.

Now the health minister has said ‘’ My understanding is that police have been asked to look at it – whether they take action is a matter for them.”

Ms Caulfield also noted that the offence of accessing medical records without authorisation could lead to prosecution.

Catherine was admitted for major abdominal surgery and remained an inpatient for a fortnight before returning home to recuperate.

Kensington Palace said it was a matter for the London Clinic.

The London Clinic told the Daily Mirror ”We firmly believe that all our patients, no matter their status, deserve total privacy and confidentiality regarding their medical information.”
