When Duchess Marie-Thérèse of Württemberg married, Prince Henri, Count of Clermont, the Heir of the House of Orléans, in 1957, she received this spectacular Mellerio Sapphire and Diamond Necklace as a Wedding Gift from the ‘Restauration Nationale’, the French Monarchist Party.
Duchess Marie-Thérèse received the Orléans Sapphire and Pearl Tiara and Parure from her mother-in-law, the Countess of Paris, which she wore with her Sapphire and Diamond Necklace for an early Official Portrait.
The Countess of Clermont notably wore her Sapphire Necklace with the Orléans Sapphire and Pearl Tiara for the Wedding Ball of her brother, Duke Carl of Württemberg, to her sister-in-law, Princess Diane of Orléans, in 1960.
While the Orléans Sapphire and Pearl Parure was sold off by the late Count of Paris following her divorce, Duchess Marie-Thérèse retained her Sapphire Necklace which was worn as a Tiara by the current Countess of Paris with the French Crown Sapphire Earrings, a wedding gift to Duchess Marie-Thérèse from Tsar Simeon II of Bulgaria, for one of her earliest Official Portraits after her marriage in 2009. As the only Tiara in the Countess’ possession, there is no doubt it will be worn for years to come!
