Olympic celebrations for King Felipe and Queen Letizia

King Felipe and Queen Letizia of Spain had a celebratory Wednesday as they welcomed Spanish Olympians and Paralympians to a reception. 

The Spanish King and Queen hosted the reception at the Palace of El Pardo, a palace that was once a royal hunting lodge. They invited the Olympians and Paralympians who represented Spain at the Paris games this summer.

Both Felipe and Letizia were happy to chat with the visiting athletes, and to thank them for representing the country and the medals that they won. 

The King of Spain also gave a speech where he thanked them for their performances, as well as the contributions that many athletes, teams, and leagues have made during the recent floods in the country. He said ”w are living through very difficult times and I want to recognize, with the Queen as well, the effort that the world of sport in general is making to support those affected by DANA in Valencia, Castilla-La Mancha and other regions.

Queen Letizia wore a burgundy suit from Bleis, as well as a black blouse with a pussy bow at the neck. 

Spain won 18 medals at the Olympic Games in Paris and 40 medals at the Paralympics. 

King Felipe and Queen Letizia spent several days in Paris supporting Spanish athletes. Their daughters, Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofia, also attended many events over several days.
