Norway’s future queen spins candyfloss on fun day out

Princess Ingrid-Alexandra of Norway’s decision to head to Australia in August to begin her studies at the University of Sydney hasn’t gone down well with everyone but she’s sweetened the mood with some candyfloss. The second-in-line to the Norwegian throne is staying busy with royal engagements this summer and she donned fun face paint at a children’s festival in Oslo.

The 21 year old princess attended the 2025 Miniøya Festival. The two day festival is held at Tøyen Park annually and is unique, as it is planned by children. Aimed at children from infants to twelve, the festival allows children of all ages to experience music, dance, theatre, literature, and more.

The two festival managers, Thelma and Ingeborg, decided to write to Princess Ingrid-Alexandra and invite her to join them at the festival. The nine year olds’ perseverance paid off, as the Princess RSVPd yes to them.

The future queen looked to be having fun embracing the festivities. She was able to chat with many children at the festival with their families and tried her hand at making candyfloss.

Ingrid Alexandra embraced the theme of the event and even had a rainbow painted on her face.

The Norwegian press have questioned the young royal’s choice of university and even asked her grandfather, King Harald, if she should have chosen an institution closer to the Norway.

King Harald defended his granddaughter’s choice, saying, ”You get this back with compound interest when she gets home, so I think that’s just an advantage. She must be allowed to study and get an education before she starts representing.

Ingrid has a range of engagements lined up before she goes to Sydney. The 21 year old has just completed her military training.
