The Norwegian Royal Family attended the annual Nobel Peace Prize Ceremony in Oslo on December 10th. While the other Noble Prizes are awarded by King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden, only the Peace Prize is awarded in Oslo.

The Nobel Peace Prize was awarded at a ceremony by the Chairman of the Norwegian Nobel Committee in the presence of King Harald, Queen Sonja, Crown Prince Haakon, and Crown Princess Mette-Marit at the Oslo City Hall.
This year’s Prize was awarded to Japanese organisation Nihon Hidankyo for its efforts to achieve a world free of nuclear weapons and for demonstrating through witness testimony that nuclear weapons must never be used again. They were received by the Royal Family at the Royal Palace of Oslo ahead of the Ceremony.
The Crown Prince and Princess also attended Save the Children’s Peace Prize celebration at the Nobel Peace Center in the morning.
