King Frederik and Queen Mary of Denmark have released new official portraits as the first year of their reign is quickly coming to a close.
The new Danish King and Queen have released one joint and two individual portraits. These follow gala portraits that were released in April 2024.
While the gala portraits are being sent to Danish embassies, consulates, government buildings, and Danish sea vessels, these new portraits will be used for official visits, special events, and engagements abroad.
Photographer Steen Evald took the photos in Frederick VIII’s Palace, one of the buildings at the Amalienborg Palace.
King Frederik wore a navy suit with a white shirt; his light pink tie provided a small pop of colour.
Queen Mary chose a fitted white shift dress with a bateau neckline. She accessorised with round diamond earrings and a delicate necklace with an “F”.
Queen Margrethe officially abdicated on 14 January 2024 after announcing it during her New Year Address. Frederik was then confirmed as King.
The new King and Queen then appeared on the balcony of Christiansborg Palace with their children.
The year has been full of firsts, including their first incoming and outgoing State Visits.
