Weddings within the Royal Family have always held a unique significance in the hearts of people around the globe.
They aren’t just glamorous events but cultural milestones that are watched by millions across the world.
Wedding planner for The Planner Co., Claudia examined the royal weddings that left an indelible mark on the collective consciousnesses of Royal Family enthusiasts and listed the most popular weddings.
She said: “Whether traditional or groundbreaking, each ceremony leaves an indelible impact on the collective consciousness.
“These regal unions remind us of the enduring power of romance and the global fascination with the British monarchy.”
Topping the list is the wedding of Princess Diana and Prince Charles. The wedding that took place in 1981 has been regularly researched on Google, the latest survey has suggested.
Claudia, who only wishes to go by her first name, said: “Undoubtedly one of the most iconic royal weddings of all time, the marriage of Prince Charles and Lady Diana Spencer captivated the world with its fairytale-like charm. Held at St. Paul’s Cathedral in London, the ceremony was a spectacle of unparalleled magnitude, with an estimated 750 million people tuning in to watch worldwide.”
9. Princess Margaret and Antony Armstrong-Jones
Princess Margaret and Antony Armstrong-Jones exchanged vows at Westminster Abbey on May 6, 1960.
Their wedding marked a historic moment as the first royal ceremony broadcast on television, attracting an estimated 300 million viewers worldwide.
The princess made the short journey from Clarence House to Westminster Abbey in the Glass Coach, which is reserved for state occasions, with her brother-in-law, the Duke of Edinburgh, by her side.

8. Queen Elizabeth II And Prince Philip
Held at Westminster Abbey, the ceremony was a testament to love enduring against adversity.
Elizabeth’s exquisite bridal gown, designed by Norman Hartnell, was adorned with crystal and 10,000 seed pearls, symbolising a new beginning for the nation.

A number of foreign Royals attended the wedding, including; The King of Iraq, Princess Juliana and Prince Bernhard of the Netherlands and The Hereditary Grand Duke of Luxembourg and Princess Elisabeth of Luxembourg.

7. Princess Eugenie And Jack Brooksbank
The next on the list is Princess Eugenie And Jack Brooksbank’s wedding.
The beautiful ceremony in 2018 took place at George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle and was attended by close family and friends. It is estimated that over three million people watched it on television.
Eugenie’s stunning bridal gown, designed by Peter Pilotto and Christopher De Vos, featured a low back to showcase her scoliosis scar, inspiring countless individuals with her bravery and resilience.
Eugenie and Brooksbank’s wedding was a star-studded event. Among the 800 guests were plenty of royal family members, including the Queen, the Duke of Edinburgh, Prince William, Kate Middleton, the Duke of Sussex and the Dutchess of Sussex.

6. Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles
The then-Prince Charles married Camilla Parker Bowles on April 9 in 2005, almost 35 years after the couple first met.
Charles’s second wedding was a far more subdued event than his internally-watched 1981 wedding to Princess Diana.
The ceremony was held at Windsor Guildhall, outside of Windsor Castle (but technically off of royal grounds) with just 28 guests in attendance. After the civil service, the couple journeyed to St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle for a more formal religious blessing by the Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr. Rowan Williams.

5. Prince Edward and Sophie Rhys-Jones
The wedding of Prince Edward and Sophie Rhys-Jones took place on 19 June 1999 in St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle. Queen Elizabeth II’s youngest child, Prince Edward, was created Earl of Wessex hours before the ceremony.
Shortly after their engagement, which took place just before Christmas in 1998, Edward and Sophie both agreed they wanted a “low key” ceremony, with the royal adding in an interview: “There’s no such thing as a private wedding but I hope that it will be predominantly a family wedding.”
