Meghan Markle teased fans on Instagram in what could be a sweet nod to the late Queen Elizabeth II as she met with young family members of competitors at the Invictus Games in Canada.
Filmed walking side-by-side with her husband, Prince Harry, she flirted with the idea of revealing an upcoming task.
Writing on her stories, she captioned the video “Walking into a very important meeting”, alongside an emoji of a winking face and with the accompanying song by Dolly Parton ‘Working 9 to 5’.
In the next video, Meghan can be seen sitting next to two young children from families of competitors in Team UK. Meghan titled the story “Good morning, Elizabeth”, in reference to one of the girls’ names, as she playfully draws a Union Jack on a piece of paper.
Eagle-eyed royal fans will note the young girl shares the same name as Prince Harry’s late grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II.
Meghan and Harry kicked off the Invictus Games on Saturday, February 8, with an impressive opening ceremony in Vancouver.
The prince founded the Invictus Games in London in 2014, with this year marking the seventh edition of the competition for military veterans.
The next nine days of competition will see more than 500 athletes competing, including winter games for the first time.
Meghan has taken to Instagram to share snippets of behind-the-scenes footage from the Games, including meeting veterans and their families before the opening ceremony began.
In another story uploaded on February 9, the Duchess of Sussex looks stylish, sitting down in a green jumper dress with a book by her side, as children are gathered to listen to her read. The video is simply captioned “storytime”.
Having watched Meghan’s Instagram stories, one user on X wrote: “The way we get to open Instagram and see new story updates from Meghan like it’s 2015 all over again.”
Also referring to her social media posts, another wrote: “Meghan Markle continues her new life as an Instagram Influencer.”
Showcasing her support for singer Nelly Furtado, who performed on opening night, Meghan also featured in a behind-the-scenes video on the singer’s own Instagram page, only to be ‘photobombed’ by Prince Harry.
The first edition of the games was held in London in 2014, with subsequent competitions being staged in the US, Canada, Australia, the Netherlands and Germany.
The 2017 games in Toronto was also where Prince Harry was pictured with his then-girlfriend Meghan for the first time. She has joined him at every edition of the competition since.
