Meghan Markle has a surprising link to one celebrity vet that many royal fans were not aware of until yesterday.

On Tuesday, the Duchess of Sussex, 43, took to Instagram with a sweet video paying tribute to her rescue beagle Guy, who has sadly passed away almost a decade after being adopted by the duchess.

While the majority of the post focused on what Guy was like as a dog and the journey he had been on with Meghan, the duchess also made sure to thank celebrity vet Noel Fitzpatrick, who treated the beagle when he was moved over to the UK.

In the post, Meghan said how Noel, 57, looked after Guy as he underwent various surgeries and treatments for months on end at his clinic in Surrey before her wedding to Prince Harry.

The vet, who stars on Channel 4’s the Supervet, reportedly helped the beagle recover enough to walk again – something they originally feared would not be possible.

Talking about Guy’s health when first coming to the UK, Meghan wrote: “He (Guy) endured a terrible accident shortly before I moved to the UK which had him undergoing surgeries for several months and unable to leave the clinic. Doctors said he would never walk again, but Dr Noel Fitzpatrick said he could do it.

“H and I would drive late at night, after hours, to see Guy as he recovered in Surrey for months on end.

“I will always be grateful to Noel and his team, the team at Queen West Animal Hospital in TO, our vets now, and my friends and community: Thank you for loving him so.”

It is believed Meghan and Harry bonded with Noel over these after-hour clinic visits, with the vet being invited to their 2018 Windsor wedding.

Noel told The Daily Mail: “It was an amazing honour to be there and quite surreal because I was sitting just behind Elton John. After the service, there was a big get-together. Prince Charles gave a few words and Elton played a bit on piano and it was all very nice.

“There were canapés. It was a magnificent occasion and also incredibly humbling. I was thinking: ‘What is a farmer’s son doing here? What am I doing here?’ It was a real case of imposter syndrome. I felt truly honoured, but anyway, I decided to leave.

“I thought, I don’t actually know anybody. I’m really lucky to have seen this magical thing and I am very happy for Harry and Meghan, because they are wonderful people, but my shoes are killing me. I also thought this is all a bit overwhelming.”

It is not known whether Noel has seen the couple since treating Guy, who is believed to have passed away over the last few days.

The sad news comes just days before Meghan’s new cooking series “With Love, Meghan” is set to launch on January 15.
