Meghan Markle has dominated headlines this week since she revealed the new branding for her lifestyle business.

While the Duchess of Sussex, 43, launched her business last year under the name American Riviera Orchard, this name is now no longer beig used, with the mum-of-two announcing a rebrand this week.

In an update on Instagram earlier this week, Meghan confirmed her brand would now go by the name “As Ever”.

In an explanation of the new name choice, Prince Harry’s wife wrote: “I’m thrilled to introduce you to As Ever — a brand that I created and have poured my heart into. ‘As ever’ means ‘as it’s always been’ or some even say ‘in the same way as always’. If you’ve followed along since my days of creating The Tig, you’ll know this couldn’t be truer for me.”

However, since confirming her new rebrand, other businesses sharing the same name have come forward to address the duchess’ name choice, including the owner of Arizona-based As Ever Photography.

As reported by The Daily Mail, Jen, who owns the photography business, took to Instagram with a prompt nine-word response to Meghan’s business move as she jokingly suggested she could at least be asked to be involved with the project.

She said: “Seems like they could throw me a lil bone?”

The owner of As Ever Photography wrote on social media: “When one of the most famous people in the world starts using your biz name of 12+ years (that you named in honour of your grandmother), seems like they could throw me a lil bone? @meghan @netflix.”

The business owner later confirmed the comment had been made in good humour.

The photography business is also not the only American company with a name similar to that chosen by Meghan.

Another business with a similar name is the New York clothing brand As Ever, which released a statement this week confirming they were not connected to Meghan’s brand.

The clothing brand owner wrote on social media: “I want to say thank you to all the old friends who know and love our small family brand As Ever, and also say hi to all those that have just become aware we exist. In the last 36 hours there has been an outpouring of support and concern regarding recent events around our namesake brand. We are aware. We are not affiliated.”

Meghan’s new brand is set to officially launch products this spring.
