Meghan Markle’s following plays a key role in her decision-making, explained  | Royal | News

Meghan Markle’s fanbase is dangerously devoted to the Duchess, which may play a role in her latest PR mishaps. She knows they won’t ditch her, even if she does something deemed deliberately devious.

Meghan soft launched her lifestyle blog the same day as The Diana Award ceremony and released a new product the same day as Trooping the Colour, which asks the question: wouldn’t she be concerned about looking bad?

Meghan’s following is much different than that of her royal counterparts in the UK, and she doesn’t seem to be all that concerned if she offends them, and she knows, her “army of people on social media” will come to her defense, it’s been reported.

We spoke to Sara Fruman, Hollywood publicist and founder of Soul Evolution Media, about how the the two communities differ, with the PR expert saying: “Princess Kate has a more traditional loyal following of royal family fans, where Meghan’s following is primarily people who are just interested to see what she will do at this point.”

It just doesn’t seem like Meghan is concerned about offending royal watchers, or the Royal Family for that matter, which may be the source of the problem.

Meghan launched the Instagram page for American Riviera Orchard and within 24 hours she had over 500,000 followers. It appears she has a strong fanbase, but according to Ms Fruman, there’s a disconnect.

She said: “People can see through her and don’t connect with her.”

It just seems like there’s an inauthenticity and the best thing to do is “be honest and carve out her own niche,” says the publicity expert.

“I’d sit down with Meghan and tell her that she needs to take an entirely different approach than what she’s taking right now.”
