Meghan Markle’s dad has made a surprising six-word remark about his estranged daughter following the release of her Netflix show last week. The cooking series “With Love, Meghan” aired for the first time on March 4, generating a lot of global interest. While Meghan received some support from fans, the Duchess of Sussex, 43, also received a lot of criticism.
Among the critics was her estranged father, Thomas Markle, who has not been in touch with his daughter since her marriage to Prince Harry in 2018. While he is no longer in Meghan’s life – the relationship first broke down before the wedding when he staged paparazzi pictures of himself – he said he knows when she is “faking it” for the cameras.
Thomas even gave one surprising remark about his daughter, who first shot to fame as an actress in Suits before meeting Prince Harry. He told The Mail: “She just wants to be perfect.”
In the interview with The Mail, Meghan’s dad admitted he hasn’t watched the whole show but has seen clips.
He said: “Everything she says is pre-planned and rehearsed. It makes me laugh because I know all her looks and expressions.
“I know when she’s faking it for the cameras. She’s trying so hard to be perfect that she tenses up every time the camera is on her.”
He continued: “The best cooks are funny, they mess up, they are human. She just wants to be perfect.
“It’s sad because she’s trying so hard to stay in the limelight.”
The comments come after it was revealed that the show has been renewed for a second season despite strong criticisms.
