Meghan Markle ‘struggled’ to book A-listers for her new Netflix show | Royal | News

Meghan Markle is said to have “struggled” to book A-listers for her new Netflix eight-part show, With Love, Meghan.

The 43-year-old was joined by various friends in each episode – including actress Abigail Spencer and Korean-American chef Roy Choi.

Although some may have expected to see the likes of Meghan’s A-list friends such as Serena Williams, one source told The Sun that there was a reason behind not having certain guests on the show.

The source said: “They struggled to book guests. They had a real hard time, and it shows.”

Giving their brutal opinion on Meghan’s chemistry with her guests, viewers took to social media to share their thoughts.

One said that the “banter” between the former working royal and her guests was “all the spark of a dead battery”.

As well as regular viewers giving their opinions on the series, which was released on Netflix yesterday, celebrities and columnists have weighed in their verdicts.

Sun columnist and ITV’s Loose Women panellist Jane Moore wrote: “It’s beautifully lit and the expert camerawork makes everything look like an M&S food ad on steroids, but never has the phrase ‘style over substance’ been so apt.”

She went on: “There’s nothing here that we haven’t seen a million times before . . . and done better by true experts.”

In The Times, columnist Carol Midgley wrote: “If you thought With Love, Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex’s new lifestyle show, would be a smug, syrupy endurance watch, and that you would rather fry your eyeballs than sit through it, I have news for you.

“It is so much worse than that.”

Speaking of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, journalist Stuart Heritage wrote in The Guardian: “Kiss the Netflix deal goodbye! With Love, Meghan is so pointless it might be the Sussexes’ last TV show.”
