Meghan Markle is the one who “holds the key” to unlocking the feud between Prince Harry and the Royal Family, one royal expert has suggested.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been involved in a bitter feud with the royals for some time, with tensions appearing to escalate even further this year.

As well as Harry and Meghan often being blamed for the tensions, particularly due to their public outbursts speaking volumes, the pair could also be seen as the ones that need to step up and attempt to fix the mess.

According to royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams, Meghan could be the one that holds the key that could end – or at least ease – tensions.

Cracks began to appear as soon as Meghan and Harry stepped down in 2020, with them widening when the pair made the shocking decision to do a televised tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey the following year.

Speaking to Express.co.uk, Mr Fitzwilliams said: “Meghan certainly holds the key to whether the Sussexes wish to makes moves which result in settling the feud with the Royal Family.”

The expert also highlighted that, at present, attention is on whether the Sussexes will join the royals at the Sandringham estate for Christmas.

Harry has previously stated that he wished for an apology for, in particular, how Meghan was treated during her short stint as a royal.

In relation to this, Mr Fitzwilliams added: “They certainly won’t get an apology for the way they think they were treated when senior working royals.”

In one key move to helping the feud, Meghan has reportedly been sending frequent updates to King Charles on the couple’s two children, Prince Archie, four, and Princess Lilibet, two.

Although unconfirmed, the act shows that Meghan is keen for Archie and Lilibet to have a bond with their paternal grandfather.

Despite it being unclear who was behind it, Archie and Lilibet also reportedly sent their grandfather a special ‘happy birthday’ message on his birthday last week.

No invitation for the Sussexes to join the royals for Christmas has been extended at present.

Despite this, the expert claims that the King would, of course, “welcome the chance” to spend quality time with his two youngest grandchildren.

Meghan and Harry have spent the last three Christmases in the US.

The couple were last seen enjoying the festive season with the royals in 2018, the year before they welcomed their son.
