Meghan Markle continues to keep Princess Diana’s spirit alive as she paid a thoughtful nod to Prince Harry’s mother. The Duchess of Sussex took to social media and filmed herself walking around her garden in Montecito wearing a purple Northwestern jumper – and gave fans a rare insight into their £11 million mansion.

The 43-year-old looked effortlessly chic as she beamed from ear to ear while holding the camera,. She was spotted in an oversized sweater and oversized shades. Meghan took to her Instagram story and shared with her 2.1 million followers the stunning views that surround her home in California, which she shares with Prince Harry, 40.

She captioned the video: “A small break from work to soak in the weekend sunshine.” In the background, one of her children was heard saying: “Mommy, I can do it if you want me to.” Meghan then showed either Prince Archie, five, or Princess Lilibet, three, how to water plants with a hose.

Meanwhile, Harry could also be heard laughing while his wife made a fizzy cocktail using a homegrown orange she picked from the grounds.

The jumper Meghan wears in the video is almost identical to Princess Diana’s, which she wore regularly in public in 1996—the year before her death.

The University of Northwestern gifted Princess Diana the jumper after she visited their Evanston campus in 1995. This was to raise money for the College’s Robert H. Lurie Cancer Center.

Meghan studied at Illinois University and graduated in 2003 with a double major in theatre and international studies – and Diana visited the institution just three years earlier.

At the time it was said that the Royal made a huge impact on the school during her visit.

The mother of Prince Harry and Prince William spent five days visiting the University and the Chicago area where she spoke with students while also stopping by a local hospital which was in need of donations to treat cancer patients.

At the time, Diana was President of London’s Royal Marsden Hospital and its Cancer Fund.

During the trip, Diana helped raise nearly $1 million. Upon her return a few months later she was spotted wearing a sweatshirt with the university’s logo.

However, it is not known what happened to Diana’s jumper.

Meghan has been vocal about making sure Diana’s presence is kept alive and shared that she wanted her spirit to be felt at their royal wedding back in 2018.

Prince Harry made sure his mother was part of his special moment by using two diamonds from her collection for Meghan’s engagement ring. The couple gave their daughter Diana as her middle name.

The new Instagram video comes just over a week before Meghan’s highly anticipated brand-new Netflix show ‘With Love, Meghan’, which will be released worldwide on March 4.
