Hello and welcome to our coverage of the Duchess of Sussex’s upcoming appearance at the South by Southwest (SXWS) festival in Austin, Texas. 

She will speak on a panel including author and journalist Katie Couric, actress  Brooke Shields,and pop culture expert Nancy Wang Yuen. 

The participants are described by the event as “visionary female leaders at the forefront of news, media, entertainment, and philanthropy who are breaking barriers, challenging stereotypes, and working toward a healthier society on and off our screens”.

The conversation promised to detail how “women’s representation in media and entertainment has come a long way, but there’s still much to be done, especially for women of color and mothers”.

The debate will also include how social media’s “omnipresence” has created an “often dangerous environment which has led to serious mental health issues for teenage girls in particular.”

The panel will begin at 7pm.
