Meghan defended by A-list Hollywood pal saying people find her ‘threatening’ | Royal | News

Meghan Markle has been supported by Hollywood A-lister Melissa McCarthy, who described the Duchess of Sussex as “wonderful”.

The former Suits star has received more backlash from Royal fans after launching her new lifestyle brand, American Riviera Orchard.

Her first product, a limited edition batch of 50 jars of strawberry jam, has proven to be a divisive “soft launch” for Meghan’s website.

Meanwhile, her new career move was recently hijacked by a prankster who set up a UK version of the website domain which instead links visitors to a food bank.

In the midst of all this, movie star Melissa, who appeared in a video to celebrate Meghan’s 40th birthday back in 2021, has come to her defense.

“It bums me out for every woman and every person, that for no reason people just like to attack,” she said.

Melissa, 53, spoke about her close friend at the opening night of the new Broadway musical Suffs last week.

The Little Mermaid star was clearly stunned by the hate Meghan has received.

Speaking to Page Six, she continued: “A smart, interesting woman that has her own life, for some reason, is incredibly threatening to some people.

“I always think, how inspiring! I’ve never once been threatened by someone who is amazing.

“I just think how inspiring. It’s really on the people throwing the hate.”

She concluded by adding that she thinks Meghan is “wonderful” and “awesome”.

This isn’t the first time the Gilmore Girls alum has had high praise for the Duchess, as Melissa also had strong words of support after poking fun at Meghan’s royal position in their 2021 birthday skit.

The video also featured a surprise cameo from Meghan’s husband Prince Harry, who showed off his juggling skills.

“They were so sweet and funny,” she said in an interview with Access Hollywood.

“I just found them very inspiring. They’re carving out their own lives. They’re carving out their lives for their kids.”
