Last week, Assistant Editor David Rato and I had the pleasure of visiting the historic Maison Chaumet flagship store at 12 Place Vendôme in Paris, where we saw heirloom heritage Tiaras, extraordinary drawings and photographs and the cast of the Olympic Medals in what was a truly extraordinary experience!
The visit began with a Tour of the historic Salon Chopin and Salon des Perles at 12 Place Vendôme, which have been recently renovated, as well as a look at some of Chaumet’s most notable clients from its foundation in 1780, most notably from the court of Napoleon.
The extraordinary team at Maison Chaumet had laid out a display for us, which included the cast models of the Medals from the 2024 Paris Olympics, which were made by Chaumet.
The highlight of the display was the spectacular Chaumet Curvilinear Tiara worn on a couple of occasions by Madame, The Countess of Paris in the 1990s.
There was also a photograph of the Jewels of the Countess of Barcelona, which were displayed by Chaumet ahead of her Wedding in 1935. Assistant Editor David Rato can be spotted identifying the trajectory of each of the jewels.
There were also several photographs of the Wedding Gifts of Infanta Alicia, Duchess of Calabria, including the Chaumet Calabria Sapphire Tiara and Parure, among several archival drawings and photographs.
We also spotted the nickel-silver model of the magnificent Chaumet Mountbatten Tiara.
Back in the main Salon, we saw several of the nickel-silver models of iconic Chaumet Tiaras, which included the model of Lady Lowther’s Chaumet Tiara.
We were also shown a selections of the modern Tiaras that can be currently acquired at Chaumet, which were truly breathtaking in their design and a reflection of the illustrious heritage of the Maison.
