The late Queen Elizabeth II was known for her quick-witted personality and showed it off during a meeting with athlete Tom Daley.
Reflecting on a time the pair discussed the Olympic Games, Tom revealed that she made a comment about her height and how she should try her hand at gymnastics.
Speaking on the Swedish chat show Skavlan, Tom said: “She commented on her height compared to some of the other athletes in the room and because me and the other athletes were quite small, she said, ‘Maybe I should try gymnastics’.
She was fully game to get involved in the sport.” According to Express.co.uk, the interaction took place back in 2016.
It was also reported that the late Queen expressed her love for gymnastics just one year later when awarding the six-time Olympic Games medallist Max Whitlock.
Speaking after his investiture ceremony, Max added: “It was pretty cool to hear the Queen say she likes the sport.”
The late Queen also showed off her cheeky personality when she previously pranked two American tourists, according to her former protection officer Richard Griffin.
In an interview with Sky News, he recounted coming across a pair of hikers, while accompanying Her Majesty on a walk around Balmoral Castle.
After the tourists asked if she lived in the area, clearly unaware who they had met, the late Queen cheekily told them that she lived “over the hill” – but failed to mention where exactly.
They then asked if she had met the Queen. Richard previously told Sky: “As quick as a flash, she said ‘Well I haven’t but Dick here meets her regularly.”
