Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer says it’s time for everyone to ”butt out” and leave the Princess of Wales alone – Royal Central

The leader of the Labour Party, Sir Keir Starmer, has said it’s time for everyone to leave the Princess of Wales alone.

Sir Keir told Channel 5’s Jeremy Vine show that ‘’we should just butt out and leave her alone.’’

He was asked by Jeremy Vine whether he was feeling sorry for the Princess of Wales at the moment and he replied ”yes, I think we should leave her alone, she’s had a difficult operation, and she deserves privacy.’’

He told the show ”I do think, it’s a guttural thing really…”

The Leader of the Opposition also told the programme that he wasn’t speaking as a politicians but as ‘’a dad and a human being.”

He was also asked whether he would advise Kensington Palace to do anything differently and he said ”no, I think politicians advising the Royal Family….is wrong.”

His comments came just hours after it was revealed that three members of staff at the London Clinic are under investigation over a possible breach of the private medical records of the Princess.

Inquiries are under way into whether people with no medical reason to access the information attempted to see the notes.

The Information Commissioner is involved and health minister, Maria Caulfield, said that police have also been asked to look into the matter.

The Princess of Wales underwent major abdominal surgery in January with Kensington Palace saying at the time that she would require two weeks of inpatient care before returning home where she would need to recuperate for at least two months. The Palace has always been clear that Her Royal Highness won’t return to public engagements until after Easter at the earliest.

However, conspiracy theories online multiplied and there was controversy when a picture issued by the Princess to mark Mother’s Day was found to have been digitally altered, leading to several photo agencies to withdraw the image. The Princess later apologised for editing the photo.
