The extended Swedish Royal Family joined King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden as he hosted a Dinner for the 2024 Nobel Laureates at the Royal Palace of Stockholm on December 11th, after awarding the Nobel Prizes on the 10th.

Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel, Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia, Princess Madeleine and Christopher O’Neill joined King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia as he hosted a Dinner for the 2024 Nobel Laureates at the Royal Palace of Stockholm.

King Carl XVI Gustav wore White Tie with the Sash and Star of the Order of the Seraphim and the Neck Badge of the Order of the Polar Star. Queen Silvia wore Queen Sofia’s Nine Prong Tiara, the Sash and Star of the Order of the Seraphim, and King Carl Gustaf’s Portrait Brooch.

Crown Princess Victoria wore the Laurel Wreath Tiara and Diamond Floral Earrings, the Sash and Star of the Order of the Seraphim, and King Carl Gustaf’s Portrait Brooch. Prince Daniel wore White Tie with the Sash and Star of the Order of the Seraphim and the Neck Badge of the Order of the Polar Star.

Prince Carl-Phillip wore White Tie with the Sash and Star of the Order of the Seraphim and the Neck Badge of the Order of the Polar Star. Princess Sofia wore the Aquamarine Kokoshnik Tiara, the Sash and Star of the Order of the Seraphim, and King Carl Gustaf’s Portrait Brooch.

Princess Madeleine wore the Napoleonic Cut Steel Tiara and Vasa Earrings with the Sash and Star of the Order of the Seraphim, and King Carl Gustaf’s Portrait Brooch, while Christopher O’Neill wore White Tie with the Neck Badge of the Order of the Polar Star

The extended Swedish Royal Family joined King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden as he awarded the Nobel Prizes at the annual Ceremony at the Stockholm Concert Hall in Stockholm on December 10th, before the Swedish Royal Family attended the glittering Nobel Banquet at the Stockholm City Hall. The Noble Peace Prizes are awarded in Oslo.

The Nobel Laureates received their Nobel Medal, Nobel Diploma and a document confirming the Nobel Prize amount from King Carl XVI Gustaf in the Prize Ceremony at the Stockholm Concert Hall. Only Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel joined the King and Queen Silvia on the stage, while Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia, and Princess Madeleine and Christopher O’Neill sat in the audience.

The Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine

Victor Ambros and Gary Ruvkun for “for the discovery of microRNA and its role in post-transcriptional gene regulation”.

The Nobel Prize in Physics

John J. Hopfield and  Geoffrey E. Hinton “for foundational discoveries and inventions that enable machine learning with artificial neural networks”.

The Nobel Prize in Chemistry

David Baker for “for computational protein design” and Demis Hassabis & John M. Jumper for “for protein structure prediction”

The Nobel Prize in Economic Sciences

Daron Acemoglu, Simon Johnson and James Robinson for “ for studies of how institutions are formed and affect prosperity”

The Nobel Prize in Literature

Han Kang for “for her intense poetic prose that confronts historical traumas and exposes the fragility of human life”

After the Prize Ceremony, members of the Royal Family and the Nobel Laureates attended a Banquet in the Blue Hall of the City Hall in Stockholm. They processed down the balcony and the grand staircase, before sitting at the central table. The first toast was in honour of the King by Professor Carl-Henrik Heldin (Chairman of the Board of Nobel Foundation), while the second was in honour of Alfred Nobel’s memory made by King Carl Gustaf. The Royals and their guests watched three musical performances before dinner was served.

Prince Daniel wore White Tie with the Sash and Star of the Order of the Seraphim and the Neck Badge of the Order of the Polar Star.

Prince Carl-Phillip wore White Tie with the Sash and Star of the Order of the Seraphim and the Neck Badge of the Order of the Polar Star. Princess Sofia wore her Wedding Tiara, the Sash and Star of the Order of the Seraphim, and King Carl Gustaf’s Portrait Brooch.

Princess Madeleine wore the Connaught Diamond Tiara and pieces of the Bernadotte Emerald Parure with the Sash and Star of the Order of the Seraphim, and King Carl Gustaf’s Portrait Brooch, while Christopher O’Neill wore White Tie with the Neck Badge of the Order of the Polar Star
