With Euro 2024 almost upon us, there will be several royals supporting their countries at the tournament. King Philippe of the Belgians visited the Red Devils ahead of the tournament to wish them luck.
King Philippe and his younger son, Prince Emmanuel, visited Belgium’s national football team at the Tubize National Centre. Known as the Red Devils, the team will play its first match of the tournament on Monday, 17 June when they face Slovakia.
The King and the prince spoke with team members, including Captain Kevin de Bruyne, about the tournament and what they are looking forward to.
In addition to meeting the players, they also were able to see the team’s new kit for Euro 2024. De Bruyne printed a new jersey with his name on it. Notably, the team’s away kit is inspired by the comic Tintin.
This is not the first time that the Belgian King has spent time with the Red Devils. In a November 2022 YouTube video posted before the World Cup in Qatar, Philippe starred as the team’s new coach in the comedy sketch.
There are several teams in the tournament that can count on royal support: Belgium, Denmark, England, the Netherlands, Scotland, and Spain are all taking part in Euro 2024.
