King Philippe and Queen Mathilde of Belgium hosted Belgian Olympians and Paralympians this week at a special event marking the games.
The Belgian King and Queen welcomed Belgian athletes to the Palace of Laeken to celebrate their accomplishments.
Many athletes chose to wear striking satin suits in red or yellow with others in black suits, echoing the colours of their country’s flag.
As well as Olympians and Paralympians, sports stars who have won medals at European championships in Olympic disciplines this year were also invited along.
Philippe and Mathilde were both in Paris for the 2024 Games and attended the opening ceremony.
Their four children also spent several days at the Summer Games in Paris. Princess Elisabeth, Prince Gabriel, Prince Emmanuel and Princess Eleonore were high profile supporters of their team.
Belgium’s Olympic stars won 10 medals at the Paris Olympics, including three golds, while the Paralympics stars took home 14 medals with seven golds among that tally.
