King Frederik gives royal approval to Danish Olympic team

With the Olympics a little over a week away, athletes everywhere are preparing to represent their country. King Frederik has visited several Danish athletes ahead of the games to share his support.

Denmark will be sending 135 athletes to the Olympic Games in Paris to compete in 20 different sports.

The Danish Royal Court has shared a video of Frederik meeting with Jonathan Groth, Anders Lind, Martin Buch Andersen and Tobias Rasmussen who will be representing Denmark in table tennis at the Olympics. This is the first time that Denmark will be competing in table tennis.

The athletic king surprised the four athletes during their training session at Brøndby and turned his hand to table tennis where he played several rounds.

King Frederik has a long history with the Olympic Games. He served as a member of the International Olympic Committee from 2009 to 2021 and throughout his time on the IOC served on several different committees, including the Coordination for the XXIII Olympic Winter Games in 2018 in PyeongChang (2011-2018) and the Coordination for the Games of the XXXIII Olympiad Paris 2024 (2017-2021).

It is expected that King Frederik and Queen Mary will be in Paris to support Danish athletes throughout the Olympics.
