The King has expressed his delight at the return of a special scheme that started to mark his Coronation.

The Big Help Out was part of the weekend of celebrations for the crowning of King Charles and Queen Camilla in 2023. It saw hundreds of thousands of people across the UK volunteer their time to help others. It’s just been announced that 2024 will see another Big Help Out.

This year’s scheme will run from June 7th until June 9th and His Majesty was the first to express his happiness at his return.

As the event was announced, King Charles said ‘‘I am delighted to support the return of the Big Help Out in 2024.”

The Big Help Out encourages people to lend a hand in their local communities. As in 2023, there will be different categories of volunteering for the latest event including community, animal welfare. health and social care, sustainability and environment and a chance to help older people in the community.

It’s hoped that many of those who sign up will continue to lend a hand after the main event which runs this year as part of Volunteers Week.

The Big Help Out website is already live and those interested can already pledge to lend a hand while details of a support pack are also available. A brand new app will launch in April.

Members of the Royal Family joined the many volunteers who took part in 2023. The Prince and Princess of Wales were joined by their three children at an initiative run by the Scouts with Prince George helping his dad to drive a digger during their day of volunteering.
