King Charles set for tears all over again as he & Camilla prepare for historic Doncaster trip to watch their star horse

KING Charles could be set for tears all over again as he and Camilla prepare for an historic first trip to Doncaster racecourse to watch their superstar horse.

The monarch was overcome with emotion when he watched 18-1 Desert Hero win at Royal Ascot last June.

Now, after the same horse won them £113,000 at Glorious Goodwood last month, he is 11-2 third fav for the St Leger – the final Classic of the season.

Victory in the 1m6f race on Saturday week is worth a whopping £396,970 and would take their winnings for the season close to the £1million mark.

The Daily Mail report Charles and Camilla are all set to attend the St Leger day racing, with the big contest coming at 3.35pm.

Desert Hero, a three-year-old colt, was bred by the late Queen and is a son of Flat racing icon Sea The Stars, who won Queen Elizabeth II’s favourite race, the Epsom Derby, in 2009.

Charles once raced at Cheltenham but it was his late mother who was a regular at Ascot and Epsom.

Taking the Royal racing operation to Doncaster – and being in attendance to see their horse – would be a huge sign of commitment to the sport.

Camilla is said to be obsessed with racing – and recently pinched a horse she and Charles jointly-owned to run in her own colours.
