After a busy day taking part in Trooping the Colour, The King took to social media on Sunday to share a meaningful Father’s Day post.
King Charles shared a video with several different clips of the late Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh playing with him as a baby and a child. The clips include a proud Prince Philip holding Charles and pushing him in a pram as a baby, playing with him, visiting him at school when he was older, watching the Highland Games together, and sailing with him, amongst other clips. A young Princess Anne also appears, as does the then-Princess Elizabeth.
One particularly poignant clip showed both Prince Philip and King George VI with a very young Prince Charles.
The video was shared with a touching caption:
Wishing all Dads, and those who may be missing their parents today, a relaxing Father’s Day.
Prince Philip passed away on 9 April 2021 at the age of 99. He was the longest-serving royal consort in history, and carried out over 22,000 engagements on behalf of the Crown prior to his retirement at 96.
