King Charles has welcomed one of his favourite cousins to Royal Ascot as Lady Sarah Chatto joined the royal procession.
King Charles makes Royal Ascot a family affair
The King has always been close to Lady Sarah, daughter of Princess Margaret, and she was given an honoured position in the carriage ride that starts off each day of the famous race meeting.

Lady Sarah was with her husband, Daniel, in the fourth carriage in the procession. They were joined by authors Robert Harris and Gill Hornby.
King Charles was in the lead carriage with The Queen and The Prince of Wales. They were joined by Prince Saud bin Khalid Al-Saud.

The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester and the Earl and Countess of Halifax were in the second carriage while the third was filled by Justin Rose and his wife, Kate, and author William Boyd and his wife, Susan.
Princess of Wales ‘disappointed’ to miss Royal Ascot
The Princess of Wales had to drop out of attending the prestigious event. Catherine was originally listed to take part in the carriage procession but less than an hour later, a revised list was published confirming that she would not be there.
However, her mother, Carole Middleton, did attend and was seen sharing a joke with King Charles and Queen Camilla as they enjoyed the racing.
