King Charles has now arrived at Balmoral Castle in Aberdeenshire to begin his summer stay. 

The Balaklava Company, 5th Battalion of the Royal Regiment of Scotland officially welcomed The King and The Queen to Balmoral for their annual holiday. 

His Majesty inspected the Honour Guard outside of the castle in a short ceremony that also included music from both the Band of The Royal Regiment of Scotland and the Pipes and Drums of The Royal Corps of Signals. 

King Charles also met a Balmoral favourite, Corporal Cruachan IV; he is a Shetland Pony who is the Royal Regiment of Scotland’s mascot. Cruachan has been known in past years to deviate from the ceremony, including eating from the late Queen’s bouquet and trying to leave. However, he was well-behaved on Monday for The King and Queen’s arrival. 

The King and Queen will most likely be staying at Balmoral until October, following in Queen Elizabeth II’s tradition. While the Monarch generally does not do many public engagements during this time, The King will still receive his Red Box each day, speak with the Prime Minister, and possibly carry out small private audiences.

It was announced soon after his arrival that His Majesty would leave Balmoral to travel to Southport to meet some of those affected by the recent knife attack in which three young girls were killed.

The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh have been spotted in Edinburgh and will most likely be setting out for Balmoral soon. The Prince and Princess of Wales and their children are reportedly set to visit before Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis return to school.
