Sophie, 60, who sweetly smiled as she knelt, nearly lost her shoe as she bent down too low. The royal, who is a huge supporter of functional fashion, donned the ‘Colina’ style wedges by Penelope Chilvers – a go-to brand of the Duchesses. However, they were perhaps less practical than she thought, as the King was snapped holding onto her arms and caught her.

Duchess Sophie flew the flag for British fashion and looked effortlessly elegant in the vibrant cobalt blue floral dress, perfect for the annual summer garden event. She was seen in a ME + EM midi dress that featured a chic bluebell print. She layered the bold print with a classic navy corduroy blazer from Frame, adding a touch of structure to the relaxed look.

Her nude wedge heels completed the outfit, striking a balance between comfort and polish.

The mother of two swept her blonde locks into an effortlessly refined ponytail and kept her jewellery simple and classy.

Sophie was snapped wearing two stacking rings by royal favourite Monica Vinader. The British label is renowned for their sustainable designs and affordable collections.

Sophie rarely accompanies the King on joint engagements, but the duo appeared in good spirits as they chatted with gardener and broadcaster Alan Titchmarsh.

This came just one day after she headed out on a rare joint outing with her nephew, the Prince of Wales.
