King Charles and Queen Camilla pay tribute to their mothers

King Charles and Queen Camilla paid tribute to their mothers on social media, sharing snaps of their late parents in their younger years to mark Mother’s Day in the United Kingdom.

In a 1956 photo taken at the Royal Windsor Horse Show, King Charles and Princess Anne are pictured with the late Queen Elizabeth II; while Rosalind Shand, Queen Camilla’s mother, is shown in undated snap with her eldest grandson—Queen Camilla’s eldest son—Tom Parker Bowles.

“Wishing all mothers, and those who are missing theirs today, a peaceful Mothering Sunday,” the couple wrote on their official social media accounts.

Queen Camilla lost her mother in 1994 after Rosalind succumbed following a long battle with osteoporosis. Following her mother’s death, the Queen became involved in raising awareness for the disease and she is currently the President of the Royal Osteoporosis Society.

King Charles lost his mother in September 2022 and has continued to share photos of the two of them together on Mother Sunday since his accession.
