King Charles and Queen Camilla led the royals at today’s Garter Day service at Windsor Castle.
Charles and Camilla donned their robes and white plumed hats as they headed to St George’s Chapel along with other Ladies and Knights of the Garter. The Princess of Wales did not attend today’s service and neither did Prince Andrew, who is a member of the Order.
The Order of the Garter is the country’s oldest and most senior Order of Chivalry, with the day set to see Ladies and Knights of the Order process down the hill from Winsor Castle’s State Apartments to St George’s Chapel, dressed in white plumed hats and dark blue velvet robes, watched by crowds of onlookers.
The installation of new Companions of the Order – including composer Andrew Lloyd-Webber, the Duchess of Gloucester and Lord Kakkar, took place during the service.
The royals departed by carriage afterwards and returned to Windsor Castle.
