King Charles III and Queen Camilla are hosting an Italian-themed Dinner at Highgrove House in Gloucestershire on the evening of February 7th, ahead of their State Visit to Italy and the Vatican in April.
King Charles III and Queen Camilla invited the Italian Ambassador to the UK and several Actors and Celebrities as they held Italian-themed Dinner at Highgrove House, ahead of their State Visit to Italy and the Vatican in April.
Queen Camilla wore her Diamond Serpent Necklace along with two of the Queen Mother’s Cartier Bracelets.
The King hailed this:
Most splendid evening which brings together two things very dear to my heart – slow food and Italy
A nation’s food culture is a priceless social and environmental asset, intimately bound up with its sense of identity and place. To say that we are looking forward to it would be to engage in a little British understatement.
Good food brings people together and what we choose to eat helps to define us – as families, communities and nations”
Inspired by the actor Stanley Tucci, and cooked by Calabrian chef Francesco Mazzei, the menu features Italian recipes with British ingredients:
Reception:
Rare and pasture salumi
Tuscan-style paté and coppa
Yorkshire pecorino cheese puffs
British vegetables caponata tartelletta
with Highgrove sparkling wine
Dinner:
Scottish crab panzanella
Westcombe ricotta and Highgrove fine herbs ravioli
Isle of Wight tomato passata
Suffolk Red porchetta
Pumpkin and sage mash, Tuscan kale
with white wine Gavi dei Gavi La Scolca Black label 2023 and red wine Barbaresco Gaja 2021
Zuppa Inglese and biscotti
with a red dessert wine, Recioto della Valpolicella Classico Zenato
It was announced that the King and Queen will undertake State Visits to the Holy See and the Republic of Italy in early April 2025.
During Their Majesties’ State visit to the Holy See, The King and Queen will join His Holiness Pope Francis in celebrating the 2025 Jubilee Year. Traditionally held once every 25 years, the Jubilee is a special year for the Catholic Church; a year of walking together as ‘Pilgrims of Hope’.
During Their Majesties’ State Visit to the Republic of Italy, The King and Queen will undertake engagements in Rome and Ravenna, celebrating the strong bilateral relationship between Italy and the United Kingdom.
