Following his State Visit to the United Kingdom and his State Visit to Denmark, Queen Juliana and Prince Bernhard of the Netherlands hosted Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi of Iran on his State Visit to The Netherlands on this day in 1959, 65 years ago.
Queen Juliana and Prince Bernhard of The Netherlands received Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi of Iran in an Official Welcome Ceremony on the Prins Hendrikkade ahead of a Return to the Royal Palace of Amsterdam, where the Queen and Shah appeared on the Palace Balcony.
In the evening, the Shah was joined by Queen Juliana (wearing the Stuart Tiara), Crown Princess Beatrix (in Queen Emma’s Diamond Tiara), and Princess Irene (wearing the Ruby Peacock Tiara) for a magnificent Reception at the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam.
The following evening, Queen Juliana (wearing the Mellerio Ruby Tiara), Prince Bernhard, Crown Princess Beatrix (in the Antique Pearl Tiara), and Princess Irene (wearing the Ears of Wheat Tiara) joined the Shah for a Gala Performance of Puccini’s opera Gianni Schicchi at the Royal Theater in The Hague, ahead of a Dinner hosted by the by the Council of Ministers in the Trèveszaal in The Hague.
On the final evening of the State Visit, the Shah hosted a Return Banquet for Queen Juliana (in the Dutch Sapphire Tiara), Prince Bernhard, Crown Princess Beatrix (wearing the Dutch Laurel Wreath Tiara), and Princess Irene (in the Ruby Peacock Tiara) at the Iranian Embassy in Wassenaar.
