Prince William and Princess Kate surprised royal fans over the weekend when they missed the royal Easter Sunday service in Windsor for the second year in a row. Instead, William, 42, and Kate, 43, wanted to spend the Easter weekend celebrating the festivities with their three children Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, nine, and Prince Louis, six, privately. This meant that rather than stay at their usual Windsor cottage, the family retreated to their Amner Hall home in Norfolk for the weekend, with their absence at the Royal Family’s Easter Sunday service reportedly approved by the King.
Instead, the family of five attended a service at St Mary Magdalene Church in Sandringham on Sunday instead, and were accompanied by Kate’s parents Carole and Michael Middleton. As reported by Hello!, the family wanted to celebrate Easter away from the public eye and left the church service via a back entrance.
While it is not known what else they did to celebrate Easter, it is believed that the three children would have been given an Easter egg each.
It is also believed the children would have been able to take part in a fun easter egg hunt or two around the property’s grounds.
The family also have ample amounts of outdoor space around their Amner Hall home, with it being likely that they would have spent a lot of time outdoors in nature as a family.
While William and Kate did not attend the Windsor church service with the King and Queen Camilla, other senior royals did.
